Spurs, Timberwolves Game in Mexico City Gets Smoked Out

A game between the San Antonio Spurs and the Minnesota Timberwolves got canceled on Wednesday after the Mexico City stadium where it was to be held filled up with smoke just before the start. The smoke apparently came from a generator malfunction, and nobody was hurt, but the problem was persistent enough that the teams, who had retreated to their buses when it first seeped into the arena, decided they couldn’t play. “About 15 minutes after the scheduled start, the Spurs bus pulled away from the building. The Timberwolves bus followed soon after,” the Associated Press reports. The teams will reschedule the game in Minneapolis, and Mexico City gets a sad trombone after a tough day.

It did not look like a healthy sporting environment inside.
