Taliban’s Latest U.S. Hostage Is a Military Dog, Taliban Says

Taliban militants in Afghanistan released a video on Thursday that they claim shows a U.S. military dog captured in a December 23 raid that killed six U.S. soldiers. While a dog handler who had worked in Afghanistan told The Guardian that the dog and its harness looked like those used by NATO forces there, the Army Times points out that NATO only announced two troop deaths that day in separate attacks. An ISAF spokesman told NBC News that “at this point I can confirm a military working dog went missing after an ISAF military mission on Dec 2013.” Regardless of the details of its capture, the dog in that video is clearly unhappy, and needs rescuing and a treat.
