Jimmy Kimmel Asks Hillary About 2016, Gets Clinton Family Selfie Instead of Answer

On Saturday night, Jimmy Kimmel joined Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea Clinton on stage at the Clinton Global Initiative University conference in Tempe, Arizona. And, while the late night host did his best to become the person who got Hillary to admit that she plans to run for president, he instead became the latest victim of the family’s masterful 2016 question-dodging skills. During the audience question-and-answer session, a college student asked, “Ms. Clinton, if you don’t represent women in politics in America as future president, then who will?”

As the crowd applauded, Kimmel attempted to go in for the kill: “That’s a very good question. It looks like you have support here. And also to add to that, when you do run for president, will you use the old Clinton campaign lawn signs?” Clinton responded by saying that she was “very much concerned about the direction of our country,” before launching into some stuff about “empowering young people,” only to have Kimmel interrupt her with, “She wants an answer.”

Alas, Clinton laughed him off, jokily asking for the girl’s name and number because she admired her “attitude” and “confidence,” before concluding, “I’m obviously thinking about all kinds of decisions.” Kimmel then asked Hillary if the many options she was considering included having more kids with Bill. “Well, no, but I wouldn’t mind one of those grandchildren I hear so much about,” she said, which Kimmel later said was, “[throwing] your daughter right under the bus.” Before wrapping up, Kimmel tried one more time, asking if Chelsea would “get her old room back or will you convert that into a home gym” should the Clintons end up living in the White House again. The only answer he received was laughter.

As a consolation prize, the family posed for an Oscar-style selfie with Kimmel and some conference attendees, which he posted to his Twitter. Of course, that’s just how every meeting of more than two famous people ends now.
