The Lakers crushed the Knicks by 31 points last Tuesday, setting a franchise mark for points in a quarter with 51 in the third. In doing so, they became the latest entry on a long list of teams and individuals to set records or personal bests against the Knicks in recent years. The trend dates back to the fast-paced, free-flowing play of the D’Antoni era, but has continued during the supposedly more defense-oriented Mike Woodson regime — in fact, so many players have set new career highs in scoring against Woodson’s club this year that someone is selling a T-shirt to commemorate it. Here, a catalogue of 16 league, franchise, or Madison Square Garden marks — plus 69 individual career highs in points, rebounds, and assists that haven’t since been topped — set against the Knicks since the start of the 2008–09 season, when D’Antoni took over as coach.
