By making himself the chiseled face of the movement to keep Central Park’s carriage-horse industry, Liam Neeson has gained some enemies: Newsday reports that about 50 activists gathered outside the actor’s Upper West Side apartment on Saturday, clutching signs with slogans such as, “Liam Neeson: Stop Supporting Cruelty!”
“Keep in mind, he is the only celebrity to ever support the abusive carriage-horse industry,” said Allie Feldman, of the anti-horse-carriage group NYCLASS, who apparently hasn’t seen enough Neeson movies to know that this guy enjoys taking matters into his own hands. It’s not clear if the actor was home to see the protesters, but he will likely have plenty of other opportunities to do so, since Mayor de Blasio has said that “action” on the horse issue could take until the end of the year. Who knows? Maybe that’s enough time for those just-debuted electric cars to grow on a guy.
