Glenn Beck Is Mad at Mitt Romney for Forgetting to Send a Thank You Note

Solidifying his status as the Republican Party’s crazy old aunt, on Monday, Glenn Beck announced on his radio show that he’s been holding a grudge against Mitt Romney for the past two years because he never thanked him for a gift. To be fair, it was a first edition copy of George Washington’s farewell address, not an ugly scarf and hat set. “I’ve never regretted giving anybody anything more than I regretted my gift to Mitt Romney,” Beck said. “I’m still hung up on that.”

Beck explained that he handed the gift to one of Romney’s sons during the last weekend of the 2012 campaign and said, “‘This is my personal copy.’ It’s a first edition — they’re really rare and expensive. And I never even got a thank-you note. Never even get a thank-you note. Pisses me off to this day. And the more I hear about Mitt Romney, the more it pisses me off.” At one point, Beck quipped that it actually only cost $30, but a copy sold on eBay recently for $400.

The campaign tweeted out a photo of Ann Romney reading the address, but it seems that only made Beck angrier. “I was trying to cement in his mind, ‘I don’t agree with you on everything. But please understand the time that we’re in, and if you win, you have to be George Washington,’” Beck explained. Imagine where Romney might be today if he’d heeded the advice of a guy booted from Fox News.
