Hillary Clinton Wants You to Know That She Faces Very ‘Hard Choices,’ Like, For Instance, Running for President in 2016

The first line in Hillary Clinton’s new book is, “All of us face hard choices in our lives.” Wink-wink. “Life is about making these choices, and how we handle them shapes the people we become.” It’s called Hard Choices. No one ever said writing a political memoir was subtle.

Although the book is technically an “inside account of the crises, choices and challenges” she faced as secretary of state — and sources have said she “does not plan to write about the 2008 campaign or any possible future runs” — this isn’t just an exercise in self-expression. It’s a billboard, and for now it says, “I’m thinking about it.” But with room for deniability, of course. Best Laid Plans (to Run for President) and My Final Chapter (Is Being President) came on too strong.
