Guy Who Bought Tsarnaev Brothers Dinner After Boston Bombing Charged With Obstructing Justice

Khairullozhon Matanov, a 23-year-old taxi driver living in Quincy, Massachusetts, was charged today with attempting to “discourage and impede” the investigation into the attack on the Boston Marathon. According to the indictment, “About forty minutes after the bombings, at approximately 3:31 p.m. … Matanov called Tamerlan Tsarnaev and invited him to dinner that night. Tamerlan accepted. That night, Matanov bought Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev dinner at a restaurant.” Apparently they could eat. That, in and of itself, is not a crime, and Matanov isn’t alleged to have known right away that they were responsible, but deleting files from his computer and attempting to destroy his cell phone in the days after does not look good.
