Iraq Veteran Busted With Shotgun, Machete, and Much More on the Subway

A 27-year-old former Marine was arrested in Brooklyn after riding public transit with his sizable weapons arsenal visible, including “an unloaded shotgun, shells for the gun, various machine gun and handgun magazines, a military radio, a laser for a shotgun, a machete and a Marine Corps uniform,” NBC New York reports. Yikes.

While the man told police he did not need permits for the guns, he also insisted he did not plan on hurting anyone. The man’s mother cited his history of mental illness, according to NBC, explaining that “he feels responsible for protecting New Yorkers and is burdened by guilt that he let 9/11 happen.”
