Hillary Clinton Makes Peace With Conservative Squirrel-Suit Stalker

Hillary Clinton continued her book tour on Tuesday, filming a town hallstyle event with CNN that ended just 45 minutes before her interview with Fox News. The former secretary of State claimed she’s never smoked pot and said she’s “still looking for answers” in Benghazi because “it was a confusing and difficult time,” but both appearances were fairly uneventful (much to the chagrin of Fox News viewers, who attacked Bret Baier and Greta Van Susteren for asking so many “softballs”). Surprisingly, the day’s biggest showdown came when Clinton stepped out of her motorcade and greeted the giant squirrel (actually a Republican National Committee intern) who’s been following her all week.

Clinton gave him a signed copy of Hard Choices, and remarked, “I hope that you will make the hard choice and read my book.” (The squirrel wears a shirt that reads “Another Clinton in the White House is NUTS!,” so clearly he’s a fan of clever word play.) He thanked her later on Twitter, writing, “I love fiction!”

This bolsters BuzzFeed’s new theory that the book tour is mainly Clinton’s way of seeing if she can still tolerate campaigning. Sure, she wants to be president, but does she want it bad enough to spend months having ridiculous conversations with America’s least beloved mascots?
