Saintly New Yorker Pays for Homeless Man’s Funeral

Today’s reminder that not everyone in New York City besides you is terrible: A woman working at a bank on the Upper East Side got to know a homeless man who slept in the vestibule for 11 years — she woke him up every morning and he took to calling her “sis” — so when he died with no next of kin, she paid for his burial rather than let him end up in a public cemetery. Don’t take this as an accusation but … What have you ever done?
