NYPD Officer Arrested for Injuring Girlfriend With His Car

Twenty-nine-year-old NYPD officer Julio Jimenez was arrested on Sunday after hurting his girlfriend with his car during an argument in their Bronx neighborhood of Throgs Neck. News reports vary slightly on the details of what happened, but it seems that he hit the gas pedal while the 23-year-old woman was leaning into the backseat of the vehicle. According to the New York Post, Jimenez then proceeded to “drive slowly with the woman half-in and half-out of the car.” NBC New York says that she was merely “pushed” from the car, while the New York Daily News reports that she was “thrown to the ground” when the car started moving with the couple’s 3-year-old son inside. Whatever happened, his actions were not appropriate behavior for someone whose job it is to protect people (or for anyone else). Jimenez’s girlfriend was treated for cuts and bruises, and he is being charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing injury, reckless endangerment, and assault.
