Sinkholes Are Now Hotter Than Corvettes

Some people would like to spend a Saturday appreciating the ingenuity and craftsmanship that went into one of the most iconic American cars, but there are more people who just want to stare into a giant hole in the ground. That’s the lesson from the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky, which has seen attendance jump 59 percent compared to last year since eight cars were swallowed by a massive sinkhole in February. The New York Times reports that the sinkhole is so popular that the museum board voted on Wednesday to keep it. While it will be partially filled in, they intend to preserve an opening 25 feet by 45 feet and 30 feet deep, possibly with a dirt embankment where a few cars can be displayed. Don’t try this at home, Corning Museum of Glass.
