This Weasel-Like, Rat-Eating Creature Is Stalking NYC

Technically, the weaselly creature spotted repeatedly in the Bronx over the last few months has more claim to the area than the people living there. The fisher, which is a long, black, furry relative of the weasel, once called Manhattan home, until fur-obsessed humans pushed them off the island and into the Adirondacks. The male fisher that recently returned to reclaim the borough was identified by zoologist Roland Kays from a photo taken by a city police officer in April. Despite our aggression toward them in the past, the fisher is not a threat to humans. They are known to eat rats, though, so maybe this little guy should hang around.
