‘Active Shooter’ Reported at Fort Lee Army Base in Virginia

A U.S. soldier turned a gun on herself in a possible suicide attempt Monday morning at Fort Lee army base in central Virginia. She was taken to the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, where her condition is unknown. There are no reports of other injuries.

The base’s Combined Arms Support Command building went into lockdown after the shooting was reported earlier this morning. As of around 10 a.m., the post was given an all clear.

Officer Amy Perry told The Wire that those in building 5020 have “fully enacted the active shooter protocol.” According to Fox News, the shooter–a “disgruntled” woman–was taken into custody, and appears to have been the only one injured in the incident.

This is a breaking story and will be updated as we learn more.
