Your Gmail Password Might Be on a Russian Bitcoin Forum Right Now

Hackers in China have compromised personal e-mail accounts of hundreds of top US officials, military personnel and journalists, Google has said. The US company said a campaign to obtain passwords originated in eastern Chinese city of Jinan and was aimed at monitoring e-mail. Google said its security was not breached but indicated individuals passwords were obtained through fraud.

The Daily Dot reports that almost 5 million Gmail and Google Plus usernames and passwords have been leaked to btcsec.com, a Russian-language bitcoin forum. Google spokespeople say that a lot of the information is old, but the person who posted the database claims that 60 percent of the credentials are still valid. You can use this intermittently functional link to see if you are among the unlucky millions, or you can just change your password and then finally figure out what two-step authentication is.
