Serious director George Clooney (Good Night, and Good Luck), the most handsome spawn of a journalist probably ever, has decided to bring Rupert Murdoch and his cronies to the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Clooney’s next effort as a filmmaker will be an adaptation of Guardian reporter Nick Davies’s book Hack Attack: The Inside Story of How the Truth Caught Up With Rupert Murdoch, about the dirty tabloid tricks that brought down News of the World in 2011. Needless to say, 21st Century Fox will not be involved.

“This has all the elements — lying, corruption, blackmail — at the highest levels of government by the biggest newspaper in London,” said Clooney in a statement. “And the fact that it’s true is the best part. Nick is a brave and stubborn reporter and we consider it an honor to put his book to film.”

Julianne Moore for Rebekah Brooks, please. Thanks.
