Madison, a sixth grader at a charter school in northeast Washington, D.C., was really excited when her school told her a special guest was coming to help with their 9/11 service project. But when President Obama showed up, she was dismayed, because she really wanted the special guest to be Beyoncé. Same, Madison. Same.

When the president sat next to her to help stuff backpacks with supplies for homeless children, Madison admitted she was disappointed.

“I really wanted it to be [Beyoncé],” she said, “but then I realized it was gonna be you.”

Now Madison knows how Sasha and Malia feel every day.
