A new vaccine has been approved for a lethal meningitis strain that hit UC Santa Barbara and Princeton University students last year. While the virus can be treated with antibiotics, it often advances rapidly and has common symptoms. Trumenba, created by Pfizer, would have immunized people against the strain that caused about a third of cases 2012’s cases.
