Upper West Siders Horrified by Plague of ‘Internet People’

Locals on the Upper West Side are mad as hell and they’re not gonna take it anymore. But what, exactly, are they angry about? “Internet people,” that’s what!

DNAinfo reports that some locals are looking to block Riposo 72, a wine bar on 72nd and Central Park West, from getting a liquor license that allows it to serve alcoholic beverages outside, and not for the typical “drunk people are loud” argument. Instead, the denizens of the UWS have a much more specific gripe: Apparently, the bar is a hot spot for Tinder meet-ups.

I have seen people say, ‘I met you on the Internet,’ and you’re putting that on the sidewalk?” one resident exclaimed. “I don’t want children walking near ‘Internet people’ meeting.”

A fair point, really. We eagerly await the new local ordinances that force all New Yorkers actively cultivating personal brands and anyone who has taken a BuzzFeed quiz in the last 30 days to stay below 30th street.
