Bunnies are a cute and cuddly choice for a family pet, but New York City can be unkind to them. It turns out many owners don’t love rabbits all that much and end up abandoning them to the raccoons in city parks, or to local animal shelters, which are struggling to find room for all these cottontails. The city council is now considering ending the sale or giveaway of pet bunnies in an effort to stem the sad, sad cycle. If the bill does go through, responsible bunny-owners won’t have to give up their pets, and even if it does, there’s always hope.
