Woman Who Told Obama Girls to ‘Show a Little Class’ Isn’t a GOP Staffer Anymore

WASHINGTON, DC - NOVEMBER 26: Malia (R) and Sasha Obama listen to their father U.S. President Barack Obama speak before pardoning

Once again, posting something offensive on the internet has cost someone their job. This time, it’s Elizabeth Lauten, the Republican who took to Facebook over the weekend to demand that Malia and Sasha Obama “show a little class” by “dressing like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar.” (After deleting her first post, she wrote that she was sorry for being “hurtful,” though she quickly deleted those comments, as well.) On Monday morning, NBC News reported that after generating at least 22,000 mostly outraged Facebook mentions, Lauten decided to step down as Tennessee Representative Stephen Fincher’s communications director. After all, a good communications director would have realized that attacking the president’s teenage daughters would not go over well.
