After over an hour of complete silence, during which Morning Joe hosts talked amongst themselves, one brave New York Times reporter decided he had had enough and would flee the MSNBC show’s barren hellscape to a place where sentient hair gel does not bloviate at length about the media.
American hero Jeremy Peters was invited onto Morning Joe at 6 a.m. and, following a short remark about the House GOP, was not called upon for commentary for over an hour. By 7:15 a.m., when the hosts finally decided they should probably let him talk for a sec, Peters had vanished into thin air.
“Did he say anything?” the hair gel wondered. “Not the entire time?”
Not the entire time.
Update 11:15 a.m.: Morning Joe’s silent survivor speaks! In an email to Daily Intel, Jeremy Peters writes:
I didn’t flee the set, I assure you. I came on the show, as I usually do, to talk about what’s happening in Congress. I did that around 6:45 a.m. I left the Ferguson discussion today to the others on the panel like Gene Robinson, who was able to capably and intelligently discuss it far better than I would have. One thing I’ve learned from doing TV: I’ve never regretted not opening my mouth. It’s always the times when you do – and shouldn’t have – that get you in trouble.
