NYC’s HIV Infections Are at an All-Time Low

Finally, some good news this World AIDS Day: The number of new infections in New York City has reached its lowest point ever, with only 2,832 new cases being diagnosed in 2013. (The number of AIDS diagnoses has also gone down 67 percent since 2003, thanks to modern medicine.) Black and Hispanic men who have sex with men remain at highest risk, and, of course, there are plenty of scary statistics left out there — like that many people who are HIV positive don’t know it.
