Ashton Carter, a physicist and former deputy defense secretary with the name of a Disney-manufactured teen heartthrob, is Obama’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, according to the New York Times. Carter, whose bros and besties call him Ash, would — if confirmed by the Senate — replace Chuck Hagel, who stepped down last week.
