John Kerry Attempts to Repair U.S.-France Relations by Making James Taylor Sing ‘You’ve Got a Friend’

In an attempt to smooth things over after no high-level U.S. officials showed up to support France in a march honoring the Charlie Hebdo victims, secretary of state John Kerry took a trip to Paris with his ol’ pal James Taylor this week. In addition to coming equipped with a “big hug,” Kerry had another trick up his sleeve: get James Taylor to play “You’ve Got a Friend” to repair U.S.-France relations in a totally subtle and not-at-all-ham-fisted way.

Kerry stood stoically nearby while Taylor crooned his classic song at Paris’s City Hall today. This should totally get the French ambassador to the U.S. to stop subtweeting America.
