Two people died in a Sunday murder-suicide at Manhattan’s West 23rd Street Home Depot. The incident took place at around 2:40 p.m., when the Chelsea store was full of people stocking up in anticipation of Monday’s big snowstorm. A witness told the New York Post that someone screamed “fuck you!” before the gunman opened fire. “At first I thought it was a chandelier dropping,” said a Home Depot employee, who said that he saw terrified people running from the shop’s lighting aisle during the shooting.

According to DNAinfo, the shooter was a 31-year-old man who worked at the store, and his victim was his 38-year-old male supervisor. Sources said that “[t]he shooter was found dead in Aisle 12, and the manager was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, but died at 3:30 p.m.” Neither of the men have been identified, and the gunman’s motive remains unclear.
