Obama’s most famous former aide, Reggie Love, has a memoir coming out in early February that explores what it was like to work for the world’s most powerful person. That sounds cool and all, but let’s get down to the really important stuff: like the time Obama walked in on Love with a lady in his bed.
The Washington Post reports that Power Forward: My Presidential Education includes a particularly cringeworthy encounter in which Love had an old “friend” stay over with him in his hotel room while on the presidential campaign trail in West Palm Beach, Florida. Unfortunately for Love, President Obama accidentally made the morning after even more awkward than it normally is. From the book:
I remember the most peremptory of knocks, the sound of his voice talking even as he walked in. … He was charged up, going a mile a minute.
“Hey, Reggie, we need to go over the schedule” – at which point the senator finally noticed my friend in bed, covers pulled to her throat, mortified.
“Oh,” he said. “I apologize.” Then he turned around and hurried out.
“Was that?” she asked, face red.
“Senator Barack Obama,” I said sheepishly.
The real story here is that Obama reportedly let himself into Love’s room using a “Secret Service master key.” Psst: Nowhere is safe, Malia. Your dad is everywhere.
