Trent Mays, the Steubenville, Ohio, high school student who was convicted in March 2013 for the rape of a drunk 16-year-old girl, was released from juvenile detention on Tuesday. Mays will receive probation and a sex offender classification hearing that will determine his risk level to the community. Mays’s co-defendant, Ma’lik Richmond, received a lighter sentence and was released last year.
