Fifty-two-year-old Glen Hochman, who recently retired from the White Plains Police Department after 22 years of service, killed his two teen daughters and himself at his Westchester home on Saturday. The New York Daily News reports that in addition to murdering 17-year-old Alissa and 13-year-old Deanna, Hochman killed the family’s German shepherd mix and at least one other pet. Hochman’s wife, Anamarie DiPietro-Hochman, and the couple’s 22-year-old daughter, Samantha, were reportedly out of town at the time.
The bodies were discovered at around 4 p.m. after a neighbor called 911. The New York Post reports that Hochman was found with a gunshot wound to the head, though the authorities have not said how the girls died.
According to White Plains Public Safety commissioner David Chong, Hochman served the police force with “honor and integrity” and had a clean record. “The department is shocked and horrified by the news of this unfathomable tragedy. We can only pray for the family,” said Chong. Meanwhile, an unnamed source told the Post that Hochman and his wife “had been having serious marital problems.”
