In an effort to determine whether liberals or conservatives are happier, a group of researchers at the University of California, Irvine studied the photographs of 533 members of Congress to see if their smiles looked genuine. The study found that “conservative politicians were less likely than liberals to display smiles involving facial muscles around the eyes, a measure that previous research has found to be associated with genuine emotion,” once and for all answering the question of who is better at smizing.
