Liberia reported a new case of Ebola on Friday, after two weeks without a patient. The World Health Organization does not declare a country Ebola-free until 42 days had passed, and the country celebrated the discharge of its last patient on March 5. Officials have been unable to determine how the woman had contracted the disease. A United Nations envoy told the New York Times, “We will have unfortunately some periods in which our hopes are dashed at this stage in the outbreak. That’s just the way it is.” The disease has killed more than 10,200 people during this outbreak.
