Rejoice, New York City public school students: Mayor de Blasio has made good on a campaign promise to incorporate Muslim holidays into the official calendar, giving you two more days off from school each year. Starting in September, public schools in New York will close for Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr, two of Islam’s most important holy days. With this news, Dante de Blasio’s cool factor is about to seriously spike, which he frankly could use after that whole “my dad the mayor drops me off at school” fiasco.
