After six months of very, very low temperatures, warmth has finally returned to New York. Unfortunately, the balmy weather came with a rash of shootings. (As we were reminded during this February’s 12-day murder-free streak, violent crime tends to decrease when it’s cold and increase as it gets hotter outside.) NBC reports that 19 people were shot in 14 different incidents throughout the city this weekend. (There were also two stabbings.) Nobody was killed, but it’s still a depressing way to kick off spring. The good(ish) news? We’re in for a cool, rainy week.
