It turns out not everybody has eschewed Citi Bikes. The Times reports that one very creative thief may be using the bike-sharing service to make a quick getaway.
Over the last few months, a man has been approaching women in the Flatiron area, snatching their purses or phones, and escaping by bike. New surveillance video released by the NYPD shows the bike he’s using is most likely a Citi Bike. The bearded thief has struck 11 times so far, usually targeting women in their 20s and 30s.
Maybe it’s just one of the Flatiron’s many moneyed 20-something techies trying to feel alive again?
