Former president Jimmy Carter was forced to end his trip to South America early on Sunday due to health concerns. “President Carter was not feeling well and has departed Guyana to return to Atlanta today,” the Carter Center announced. On Twitter the foundation said Carter was “under the weather,” but it provided no further information about his condition. Carter, who is 90, has traveled extensively in recent years, and Monday’s election in Guyana will be the 100th observed by his nonprofit foundation. The Carter Center will continue its work there and “keep him informed of developments.”
