At an event hosted by Duke University School of Law on Wednesday night, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg mentioned that her meme-spawning internet persona — Notorious R.B.G.— had inspired her to brush up on her hip-hop history. (When Ginsburg first learned of her nickname, she later confessed she “had to be told by my law clerks, what’s this Notorious.”) The Supreme Court justice told the crowd, according to the New York Times, that she had more in common with the rapper Notorious B.I.G. than just a name. “Both of us were born and raised in Brooklyn.”

If Ginsburg’s research inspires her to start a book club, she should probably avoid inviting Ohio governor John Kasich. As ThinkProgress reminded the world this week, the presidential candidate shared a story about his inability to stand the Roots in his 2006 book Stand for Something
