Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio announced on Wednesday that his family would move from their Brooklyn row-house to Gracie Mansion in Manhattan. A police officer assigned to Mayor Bill de Blasio’s security detail was shot in the back with a pellet gun near Gracie Mansion on Sunday night. According to the New York Times, the officer was stepping out of an unmarked police car around 7:15 p.m. when she felt pain in her back and realized she had been hit. She was not seriously injured and was released from the hospital later that night. The de Blasios, who sent their son, Dante, off to college this weekend, “were not in harm’s way at all,” according to police. (The Daily News reports they were not home during the incident.) There have been two previous reports of windows being damaged by pellets in the area, and two people have been taken into custody and are being questioned.
