A 30-year-old construction worker fell four stories to his death on Tuesday afternoon, after walking on wooden beams over a elevator shaft without a harness. He was found unconscious on his back in five feet of water at the bottom of the shaft, and was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he later died. Workers at the construction site in Hell’s Kitchen — at 577 Ninth Avenue, between West 41st and 42nd Street — were crying this afternoon, according to DNAinfo. BRF Construction Corp. — in charge of the project — was fined earlier this year after a worker was spotted without a harness, per DNAinfo. Gothamist adds that there were reports last year that a hotel was being built at that address.
Tom Steyer: I don’t understand your instruction not to have an opening statement and I won’t conform to it
Breaking debate commentary: When Steyer came on screen my husband burst out laughing and said, “Who the fuck is this.”
Tom Steyer on stage like the RPG character you get late in the game and never use
Not sure Steyer will be thrilled his debut on the debate stage came with the chyron “FORMER HEDGE FUND MANAGER” (rather than “impeachment activist,” or “climate activist,” or even “megadonor”…)
Wife: Did Tom Steyer literally just spend enough to be here? Me: Pretty much. Wife: It’s amazing Bloomberg didn’t do the same. Me: Don’t remind him, please.
