Police Raid Home of Reported Bitcoin Creator

On Tuesday evening, Wired reported that Craig Wright “invented bitcoin, or he’s a brilliant hoaxer who very badly wants us to believe he did.” A few hours later, Gizmodo said that they had been investigating the same Australian guy for weeks. And a few hours after that, Australian police raided Wright’s home and office. The Australian Federal Police sent a statement to Reuters saying that its “presence at Mr. Wright’s property is not associated with the media reporting overnight about bitcoins” and that all questions should be sent to the Australian Tax Office. The owner of the raided home said Wright — one neighbor referred to him as “cold fish Craig” — and his wife were planning to move to Britain at the end of the year. Wright’s blog and social media accounts have been deleted very recently, the Guardian reports
