Report: The Trump Campaign Gives Up on Virginia

Donald Trump is done in Virginia. Late Wednesday night, staffers in the swing state were told that Trump’s campaign is “pulling out” in order to focus on Pennsylvania, Florida, North Carolina, and Ohio, according to NBC News.

The move reportedly left GOP operatives in the state “blindsided.” Among them is Trump’s former campaign chairman in the state, Corey Stewart, who told NBC News the move was “totally premature.” Stewart was fired earlier this week after organizing a protest outside of the Republican National Committee where he railed against “RNC establishment pukes.”

Despite Stewart’s claim that Trump could have potentially won Virginia with an ad blitz, the state has almost certainly been a Clinton lock for months. Of course, you wouldn’t know that if you follow Trump on Twitter. A week ago today he tweeted this:
