If Trump Said He Liked Rape, Texas Congressman Would ‘Consider’ Unendorsing Him

Texas congressman Blake Farenthold vividly demonstrated the dilemma Republican lawmakers are facing when he was asked a hypothetical question about what it would take for him to unendorse Donald Trump.

After Farenthold repeated the line that Trump’s bragging about sexual assault was just “locker room talk” on Tuesday night on MSNBC, Chris Hayes asked, “If a tape came out with Donald Trump saying that, saying ‘I really like to rape women,’ you would continue to endorse him?”

“Again, it would, I — that would be bad, and I would have to consider — I’d consider it,” he replied. “But again, we’re talking about what Donald Trump said 10 years ago as opposed to what Hillary Clinton has done in the past two or three years.”

Soon after, Farenthold apologized on Twitter:

And just like that, every Republican still endorsing Donald Trump realized they’re too busy to do any interviews between now and November 8.
