The Clinton campaign has canceled plans to light up the New York City skies with a celebratory firework show on Election Night, according to the NYPD chief of intelligence. At a press conference Monday, Tommy Galati said of the event that “They do have a permit for fireworks, but at this point we believe the fireworks is canceled.” Asked why, he said, “I cannot tell you that.”
TMZ got a little more information from the Coast Guard, which said the campaign planned to shoot off fireworks over the Hudson for two minutes as early as 9:30 p.m. The display would have been visible from the Jacob Javits Center, the site of Clinton’s Election Night party, but last Thursday the campaign called it off. There will still be fireworks if Clinton’s win though, but they won’t be over the Hudson. They’ll be a few blocks away on the stage where Donald Trump delivers his “concession” speech.
