The Kremlin talked with the Trump campaign on a “sufficient, responsible level,” reports Bloomberg. Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the Russian embassy reached out to both Clinton and Trump camps as part of “routine” outreach.

Based on Russia’s telling, diplomats might have had a bit more luck with team Trump, though it’s unclear what was discussed or whom officials met with on the Trump campaign. “Obviously, we know most of the people from his entourage,” Rybakov said on a state-run news agency, according to the Washington Post. “Those people have always been in the limelight in the United States and have occupied high-ranking positions. I cannot say that all of them but quite a few have been staying in touch with Russian representatives.”

A Trump campaign spokesperson told Bloomberg she was unaware of any meetings. Contact with the Clinton campaign was “sporadic” and “not always productive,” said Ryabkov. The Clinton campaign didn’t comment, but if Russia really wants us to know anything, they’ll probably find a way.
