Trump Ad Appeals to Guys Who Love Washington’s Football Team’s Insensitive Name

On the final Sunday of the campaign, a pro-Trump super-pac reached out to a group of overlooked voters who could swing the election: white men who don’t have a huge problem with a female president, or Hillary Clinton’s liberal politics, but are passionately opposed to changing the Washington, D.C., football team’s racially insensitive name.

“Yeah, you thought you were safe,” begins a new ad from Rebuilding America Now, “sitting in your recliner in your man cave, cold beer and a bowl of chips. Ha, you thought you’d escaped politics by focusing on football. Wrong. Hillary Clinton wants to mess up your football, too. Hillary wants to change the name of the Redskins.” It concludes, “Hillary’s priorities are not your priorities.”

Yeah, you thought Clinton might disagree with most Democratic lawmakers on this issue. Wrong. In 2014, she said she’d like to see the owners “think hard” about a name change. Then, when asked to suggest a new name, she admitted, “I haven’t thought a lot about that.”

Hillary’s priorities are not your priorities … unless you’re into keeping Obamacare, against banning Muslim immigration, and don’t devote a lot of mental energy to politically incorrect team names.
