Profile

For the last 30 years, the road to cultural crossover has become increasinly littered with the carcasses of ridiculed failures. (See Garth Brooks with a baseball bat, Ron Artest at the microphone.) “Music Is A Better Noise,” spotlights those musicians who've made art that's no cause for embarrassment: Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon, Black Dice’s Bjorn Copeland, and The Boredom’s Eye. More intriguing still may be the displayed art inspired by pop icons such as Meredyth Sparks's glitter portraits of Joy Division front man Ian Curtis.
