This Randall’s Island tennis complex is home to New York’s World Team Tennis franchise, the Sportimes. Opened in 2009, the distinctive multicolored stadium is adjacent to an indoor tennis center, with a mix of metal bleachers and chair-back seating on three sides and a lo-fi video board (along with some VIP seating options) on the fourth. But casual players can hit some balls here, too, either at the indoor center—which houses five Deco-Turf hard courts, along with a café, a reception space, a fitness center, and a small pro shop—or on one of the fifteen outdoor courts. Five of those outdoor courts have a Deco-Turf surface, and ten have Har-Tru clay, but all of them get covered in the winter by a tennis bubble so they can remain in use. In addition to annual memberships, seasonal and hourly rates are available, and ten of the courts are open to public-court permit holders.
