Profile

With locations in Times Square, the South Street Seaport, and in Brooklyn, TKTS booths sell tickets to Broadway and Off Broadway shows for up to half off the regular price. Of course, there are a couple of catches: Ticket availability is dependent on that day’s full-price sales, so seeing the show of your choice isn’t always possible, and the most popular shows never make it to TKTS. The trip also involves some spontaneity, as sales are same-day only (except for matinee tickets at the Seaport and Brooklyn booths, which are next-day only). Plus, there’s the line: Though it’s within walking distance to most theaters, the wait at the multiwindowed ticket center in Times Square can be over an hour long, especially on weekends and holidays. At least you’ll have ample time to make your selection from the digital signboard, which lets you know the availability for each show.
