If you're local, 420 is not a bad place to start off the night. Otherwise, there's little remarkable about this generically upscale bar and lounge—except for the fact that it's not in SoHo. The long stainless-steel bar, a smattering of candlelit tables and private leather-couched corners seat DKNYers drinking cosmopolitans and lite beer (two varieties of which are on tap). Although a DJ spins a mixture of hip-hop and funk on Friday and Saturday nights, the most commonly played tunes range from Prince to Madonna and back to Prince. The bartenders are mostly attractive young women dressed as if they had a Baywatch audition to go to after their shifts.
Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
