Owner Karl Franz Williams says his latest venture, 67 Orange Street, is inspired by Almack’s Dance Hall, which was at that address in the 1840s when it was one of the first black-owned bars in the city. Appropriately, Williams has enlisted a trailblazing black female mixologist, Williams has come up with $13 drinks incorporating ingredients like a Earl Grey-infused gin, and of course that purportedly trendy spirit, pisco (it should be noted: he is not above busting out the banana liqueur and whipped cream). There are also small plates priced at under $11, a raw bar, and a private dining room downstairs.
